Rusty Romance plays "Roots n'Roll"-- a blend of honky-tonk country and good old rock n' roll, with tastes of western swing, soul, and gospel, all delivered with a healthy dose of fun. Original and cover songs ranging from heart-felt to humorous are at the center of the band. For the past five years, Rusty Romance have been bringing the fun in their home state of Vermont, delivering the goods of rootsy Americana rock and country, with a helping of Green Mountain soul. About the band: DAVID BLYTHE lends his versatile bass playing to the mix, handling upright acoustic and electric basses with equal aplomb. He brings extensive musical knowledge to the group and tosses in the occasional lead vocal for good measure. David says, "It's all about the bass." KEVIN MACNEIL "BUCKY" BROWN is an experienced and accomplished multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter. In more recent years he has composed music for a series of independent films and done session work for Vermont Public Radio. Brown's twangy Telecaster guitar (red, of course), crying lap steel, and tantalizing dobro work help define the Rusty Romance sound. Kevin Macneil Brown also contributes soulful vocals and has written several of the band's songs. BILL "RUSTY" FRASER has penned clever songs like "Guns, Beer & Wedding Gowns" and "Who Brought the Fun?", which are staples of the band's shows. Along with wearing the big black hat of band leader and front man, Rusty also nails down the rhythm guitar parts and unleashes the occasional solo on his red Telecaster. MICHELLE GARDNER has sung on many stages, in many contexts. Most recently she appeared at the Barre Opera House as Olive, the female lead in "Come Sing Jimmy Jo". With Rusty Romance, Michelle's sweet and soaring vocals get right to heart of every song she sings, from tender ballads to scorching rockers. "DANGEROUS" DAN HALEY has become a crucial part of the Vermont music scene. His mandolin and guitar wizardry have graced perfomances with Mark Legrand's Lovesick Bandits, Bad Monkey, Spencer Lewis and the Thrufters, Michael Arnowitt's Jazz Combo, and, of course, Rusty Romance--to name only a few. Dan is also a superb solo singer/songwriter/performer with a deep command of every aspect of the art of music. TERRY HODGDON adds tasty, talented, and expressive drumming. Over the years, Hodgdon has performed in a variety of bands playing almost all musical styles. Terry maneuvers expertly through the slower acoustic numbers right up through the full-steam-ahead rockers. His steady and musical approach to the drum kit pulls the Rusty Romance sound together. ROB HALPERT on keyboards and vocals is the band's newest member, having only recently been drafted. Rob also plays in the local americana act The Barn Band. He's been performing off and on since his college days. We're delighted to have him on board.
